Margaret River Pro 2024 Preview

On April 11, the fifth event of the World Tour and the last before the mid-year cutoff will begin on the legendary wave of Margaret River, Western Australia. Everything indicates that it is going to be an epic championship since surfers like Italo Ferreira or Gabriel Medina are in danger of being cut for the second part of the season.

The right of the Main Break will be the protagonist although there are chances of surfing the hollow wave of The Box. The surfers will be prepared for anything because some will play the entire season in 30 minutes...Who will make the cut? Who will be left out? We will know in a few days, but we already have an idea of what can happen...

Margaret River Pro Favorites and Underdogs

It seems that the first few days there will be enough waves to do the first rounds of men and women. The right of the Main Break will gain strength although from time to time a left with potential will appear. Surfers with speed and strength have everything to win in this wave.

In this event we will see who is able to withstand the pressure of the cut and who is going for the world championship. The likes of Cole Houshmand have already taken that pressure off the cut by winning Bells, who will win Margaret? Some epic days await us!

Favorites (Men):

Ethan Ewing:

The most elegant surfer on the planet, his carvings and flow allow him to be the favorite for this event. Without Filipe Toledo in the Tour, he is going for the world championship this year. Top.

John John Florence:

He has a special connection with this wave where he has won more than once. If he gets big he will be the rival to beat, although he should focus more on the heat and not surf as if he were freesurfing with his friends. If you focus, you will win.

Jack Robinson:

Robbo is a local from Margaret River, he has been surfing here his entire life and it shows a lot in the surfing he does in these waves. If waves come in he will be the favorite along with John John, he is the king of The Box.

Gabriel Medina:

Gabriel is in danger of being cut for the second part of the year. We all know that when Gabriel is under pressure, the lion inside him comes out and surfs like no one else. He sure plays a good role with his powerful backside. He is the current champion and will not want to miss the next Fiji championship, one of his favorite waves.

Underdogs (Men):

Matthew McGilivray:

The South African is an expert in this type of right. The carvings he makes and the force with which he performs the maneuvers can surprise us in this championship. If he gets big it will be very difficult to beat him.

Leo Fioravanti:

The Italian maestro is always a threat in these conditions. He always gives 100% of himself and it is very difficult to beat him, you have to have an excellent round to beat him. Someday he will win an event.

Favorites (Women):

Gabriela Bryan:

Although it may be a surprise to people, for us she is one of the favorites to win the championship in Margaret. His strength allows him to do maneuvers that very few can do. Next level.

Molly Picklum:

Molly is Molly. All waves are good for him and even more so if they are big. The Margaret River wave fits perfectly with his way of surfing. She will be the rival to beat.

Tyler Wright:

The powerful Australian is always in the pools. His flow and experience allow him to surf this wave calmly.

Brissa Hennessy:

The Costa Rican is in a very sweet moment in her career and can play a very good role in this wave. Big rights are his specialty and there is a lot of that in this wave. Careful.

Underdogs (Women):

Bettylou Sakura Johnson:

The young Hawaiian woman is a threat wherever she goes. This wave is pretty similar to the one at Sunset Beach where Bettylou is a local and surfs every day.

Tatiana Weston-Webb:

Tati already knows what it's like to win at Margaret. Her strength and her confidence in big forehands make Tatiana bring out the best in herself. If he gets big it will be very difficult to beat him.

Good luck to everyone on the FANTASY TEAM!
